Push Hands Prague 2024

A lovely Push Hands meeting in beautiful Prague. A fantastic arrangement by Ivo Marvan and others. We were Push Hands participants from all over Europe. This year the event was marked by the heavy rains over central Europe and our beautiful island, Shooting Island, was closed due to the risk of flooding. So we had to force the barriers to get to the training hall. But that kind of thing just cheers you up…

Gianfranco Pace gave an exceptionally good seminar based on Chen-style Tai Chi which he teaches at his ITKA institute in Sicily. Sticking and following were some of the themes, as was the meaning of Yi (mind intent). “Move when you wan!t”

Harriet Devlin, daughter of the famous Gerda Geddes – Tai Chi pioneer in the West – gave a nice insight into her mother’s work in spreading Tai Chi as well as a more philosophical view of the long Yang form as an analogy to our lives, from birth to death, where the different positions of the form correspond to different situations in life. A different and amazing experience.

Do not forget Tomasz Nowakowski, whose excellent seminars I did not have the opportunity to witness this time.

A novelty for this year was the exercise Tap Sao to get into the free push hands the right way.

As usual, I ended with a visit to a jazz venue. This time Agharta jazz club.
